According to a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) statement, the global aid cuts are triggering a child emergency in Mozambique. UNICEF projects a 20 per cent drop in funding in 2026, threatening critical programmes for children’s survival, protection, and education.
UNICEF says that the cuts will lead to fewer vaccines, less clean water, less treatment for children suffering from malnutrition, and disruption to learning for the most vulnerable children. “We must act before more children are left behind,” says the statement.
