The Governor of Gaza province, in southern Mozambique, Margarida Mapandzene Chongo, said there are school managers in the province who falsify the numbers of pupils enrolled to benefit unduly from direct support funds for schools.
Margarida Chongo, who was speaking in the district of Chidenguele at a meeting with senior officials from the education sector, recommended an end to this practice, which undermines planning in the education sector.
