At least 13 primary and elementary schools in the Montepuez district, in the south of Cabo Delgado province, are temporarily closed due to the climate of insecurity prevailing in the region. Of the 13 schools, eight are located in the administrative post of Nairoto, while the rest are in the administrative post of Mirate.
Sources in Montepuez report that teachers, students and carers have left the villages due to the presence of terrorist groups.
